Graphics Presets - 7 quality profiles for Subnautica 2

WHAT IT DOES

------------

- Tweaks GameUserSettings.ini (DLSS/FSR, scalability, SN2 settings)

- Adds Engine.ini with UE5 CVars (Lumen, shadows, water, streaming, and more)

- 7 ready-made presets from weak PC to ultra max quality

REQUIREMENTS

------------

- PC version (Steam or Xbox app)

- NVIDIA GPU: use DLSS presets (folders 01-06)

- AMD GPU: use folder 07_AMD_FSR or set UpscalingMethod=U_FSR manually

INSTALLATION

------------

1. Download and extract the archive anywhere. Do NOT extract into the game folder.

2. Read README.txt or INSTALL.txt inside the archive.

3. Press Win+R and paste:

  %LOCALAPPDATA% Subnautica2 Saved Config Windows

  Xbox Game Pass users use WinGDK instead of Windows:

  %LOCALAPPDATA% Subnautica2 Saved Config WinGDK

4. Backup your GameUserSettings.ini (copy to the backup folder in the mod).

5. Copy Engine.ini from your chosen preset folder into the config folder above.

6. Right-click Engine.ini, open Properties, check Read-only, click Apply.

  The game will delete Engine.ini on launch if Read-only is not set.

7. Open WHAT_TO_REPLACE.txt and merge the listed sections from the preset

  GameUserSettings.ini into your own file. This keeps your screen resolution.

8. Launch the game. Avoid changing graphics in the in-game menu or it will

  overwrite GameUserSettings.ini.

PRESETS

-------

01_Minimum  - Weak PC, max FPS. DLSS Performance, 50% render scale.

02_Low      - Budget GPU. DLSS Balanced, 60% scale.

03_Medium  - Balance of FPS and quality. DLSS Quality, 75% scale.

04_High    - Strong GPU. DLSS Quality+, 90% scale, Lumen reflections.

05_UltraMax - Top GPU (12+ GB VRAM recommended). DLSS DLAA, 100% scale, RT Lumen.

06_Potato  - Extreme FPS boost. Lowest visuals, 40% scale.

07_AMD_FSR  - Same as Medium but uses FSR instead of DLSS for AMD cards.

IMPORTANT NOTES

---------------

- Close the game completely before editing any config files.

- Engine.ini must be Read-only or the game removes it on startup.

- The in-game graphics menu overwrites GameUserSettings.ini. Re-apply the

  preset or avoid the menu after installing.

- Ultra Max is very demanding. Use Medium or Low on weaker hardware first.

- This mod does not edit game .pak files. No UE4SS or other plugins required.

UNINSTALL

---------

1. Close the game.

2. Remove Read-only from Engine.ini and delete it.

3. Restore your original GameUserSettings.ini from backup.

4. Launch the game.
