No Water

Description

First of all: this is not a serious or QoL mod. It was made just for fun.

It is intended for players who have already completed the current content and want to experience the game from a different perspective.

With No Water mod Subnautica 2 feels completely different and way harder.

It might be a good challenge, but probably impossible.

You will likely need to use the unstuck button frequently, so its time has been reduced.

I recommend creating a new save for this mod, as vehicle and creature AI behavior may break.

You can still use your existing save, but do so at your own risk.

The default movement speed too slow on land, I highly recommend installing one of these sprint mods:

Installation instructions

1. Install a version of UE4SS configured for SN2

2. Download mod and unzip file

3. Place the NoWaterLua folder into:

Subnautica2 Subnautica2 Binaries Win64 ue4ss Mods4. Place the NoWaterLogic folder into:

Subnautica2 Subnautica2 Content Paks LogicMods(Create the LogicMods folder if it does not exist)

Both folders are required for the mod to work correctly.

If the mod is not working, double-check that your folders match this exact structure:

If everything is installed correctly, the mod version will appear in the bottom right corner of the main menu.

Multiplayer: Not tested. Result may be unpredictable.

Configuration

You can customize the mod's behavior by editing the config.lua file located in the NoWaterLua Scripts folder.

Please ensure the game is closed before making any changes.

Available settings:

• enabled - Toggles the entire mod on or off. [/*]

• removeWaterCurrents - By default, water currents are not removed because they are fun and produce electricity. But technically they're still water, so you can remove them if you want. [/*]

• reduceUnstuckTime - Decreases the cooldown for the unstuck button in the pause menu. [/*]

• destroyDelay - The delay in milliseconds before the water is deleted after spawning. If you load into the game and still see water, try increasing this number. [/*]

• useCustomWeather - Without water, the fog looks bad, so I slightly adjusted the weather settings to avoid this. You won't even notice. (It's not recommended to turn off this or change custom weather settings)[/*]

Uninstallation

To uninstall the mod, simply delete these folders:

Troubleshooting

If your game is crashing, try the following steps:

• Restart the game 2 or 3 times. This often resolves initial launch issues.[/*]

• Wait for the shaders to finish loading completely on the main menu before loading a save.[/*]

• If the game continues to crash, try clearing your compiled shaders.

For example, you can use tools like this: Shader Cache Cleaner by Gametism

It will delete compiled shaders for all UE5 games.

Afterward, launch the game with the mod installed and wait for the shaders to recompile.[/*]

• If none of the above works, navigate to

Subnautica2 Subnautica2 Content Paks LogicMods NoWaterPaksand delete the three files starting with Z_NoWaterPatch_P.

But without this patch you will see lighting artifacts in some places.[/*]
